What are MMO games?
MMO is the genre of games that can largely vary in their essence and be one of those (but not limited to):
- shooters
- building
- roaming
- fighting
- challenging.
MMO stands for ‘massively multiplayer online game’ – sometimes also abbreviated as MMOG but this name is not that common. It means that it is an open-world game that embraces from tents to tens of thousands players at one server (with many possible servers (even thousands of them) supporting each gaming arena or different worlds inside one game).
Ones of such most-known games are ‘World of Warcraft’ (with millions of monthly active players online) and ‘The Lord of The Rings online’. Less known (but well known locally) are browser-based online games like ‘Combats Club’ in Russia (which is officially considered to be of BBMMORPG genre) and EVE online that originated first in North America.
There are many derived genres that add to classical MMO: MMORPG, 3D MMORPG, MMORTS, BBMMORPG, and others, depending on the type of gaming process, technical, and technological features they possess.
Are free online MMO games fun?
MMO is one of the most entangling online games ever developed. They are nominally free to participate but in order to receive a serious advancement, a player may input some amount of the real money. As a rule, the tangible input that seriously affects the gaming result for the player, depending on what he or she plays, starts from several hundred US dollars and goes up.
