Deadpool

Deadpool is a character in comic books. His first appearance was in 1990, which is comparatively late to some other iconic comic book heroes — for instance, Spider-Man first appeared in 1962 and Superman — in 1938.
He is a very popular guy not only in comics but also in films, video games, TV & on the Web. The spiraling popularity came to this comic book hero in the entire world after he was portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, who is an absolutely charming guy, whom everybody loves. No wonder both films for cinemas, featuring this hero, collected over 700 million dollars at the box office each. That’s how a very advantageously cast person can boost a specific comic book character’s popularity and trend. And this trend is going to continue because Ryan was cast and approved to play this character in the third installment of the film (which is planned for 2024).

Traits of this character

First and foremost, Deadpool by Marvel Comics is a villain. What’s more surprising is that he is, probably, the only villain and antihero (if not to mention the modern version of Joker), who is so much loved by the public. As you know, villains are usually hated and it’s hard to find any other antihero dude, whom the public wouldn’t want to kill or forsake.
There are several things that make him attractive to people’s minds around the globe:
• unstoppable sense of humor — he jokes nearly all the time, even when there is seemingly no space or situation for that
• he is a big brat and does many skeevy things, which seem to be a part of his character, which he purposefully shows to everyone around
• he does bad things because he enjoys doing them. There is no high morality that would withhold him from doing bad things — he understands he is doing bad & distinguishes goodness from badness, yet, he is like a big spoiled child, who is never restricted from doing absolutely anything, so he is very self-centered. Thus, many readers and viewers perceive him as a guy who has huge internal freedom of a character, which they’d also like to have for themselves and that’s why they are so fascinated with this dude
• the character often holds an inner monolog, which not only discloses the way of thoughts of the character to the viewers and readers but also makes his feelings and emotions more understandable to the general public
• just like very rare few other comic book characters, he is able to ‘break the 4th wall’, which means that he directly speaks to viewers and readers, as if ignoring the screen or sheet of paper that divides them in real space and time. This is often used to create comedy situations, making jokes more invigorating and bulky
• first, he was a supervillain, then just a villain, then turned into an antagonist, becoming even softer as his character progressed on screens and in the books. Occasionally, he is acting like a good guy, helping innocent people. Nonetheless, this is not his core morale or basic virtue because he often perceives other people only as bots or NPCs in a game or something like that.

The origins of the character

Deadpool combines a number of traits of other characters derived from comic books and other pieces of pop culture. Thus, he was designed directly based on a very similar character Deathstroke from the Teen Titans, which possesses many traits of the character (especially bad ones) of Deadpool and, partially, features of his costume. Also, he is inspired by Snake Eyes from the G.I. Joe toys (which are popular in America), which also appeared in comic books. Even the name Snake Eyes was taken to be featured in the appearance of Deadpool because, as you can see on his mask, there are snake-like ovals around both of his eyes, just like some snakes have in their colors and like all snakes have in their scales around the eyes, which surround them, forming circles or ovals.
There was a film named Daredevil (in 2003, starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner), where the outward appearance of the hero is pretty much similar to the appearance of Deadpool. Since Daredevil appeared in 1964 in comic books, Deadpool was significantly inspired by this guy’s appearance, not vice versa. Deadpool, Daredevil & Deathstroke names all start with the ‘D’ letter, have specific and unique weapons, which they are masters of & they are really tough guys. There is even a larger connection between Deadpool and Deathstroke! The latter’s real-world name is Slade Wilson. Deadpool’s name is Wade Wilson — it’s a direct reference to the origins of the idea & only two initial letters of the name were changed. The guy who created this character wanted to pay a tribute to Deathstroke in this way, of which he also was an admirer.
The character considered here was a love interest of various characters throughout the timeline of his adventures and life. There were at least 10 of them, toward whom he had feelings or who had feelings for him:
• Anastasia, a tattoo artist
• Satana Hellstrom, a daughter of Satan
• Black Widow, also notoriously known as Natasha Romanoff
• Rogue (from X-Men)
• Mercedes Wilson, his ex-wife
• Outlaw, a mutant
• Siryn, a member of X-Force, a daughter of Banshee
• Copycat, a.k.a. Vanessa Carlysle (also appeared in films, portrayed by Morena Baccarin)
• Shiklah, a former Dracula bride
• Lady Death, the Death herself in a female guise. We consider her the most interesting one — given all her superpowers, like omnipotence and immortality.

The superpowers

The character considered in this text has a list of cool superpowers:
I. He has a huge ability to heal himself from all sorts of wounds he receives, no matter if they are hits, cuts, gunshots, explosions, fire, acid, or anything else. Due to supernatural healing, restoration & rejuvenation abilities of his body, he is able not only to heal the internal wounds but also re-grow lost or mutilated extremities and even his head! He received such a superpower in the course of one interesting experiment, involving the genes of Wolverine (another comic book hero) & later on, he was genetically fused with the genes of Captain America’s evil twin named Madcap (obviously, a shortage from Mad Captain). Despite that ability, he is known to have actually died several times through the course of the history of this character (and was resurrected all these times except for the case when he was killed by Wolverine in a film and when in a comic book he was a zombie, who was killed and decapitated).
II. Obviously, because of the previous superpower, he is practically immortal. It is proven by stories in comic books, which depict him in the far future: even 800 years from the day of his transformation from a human to a superhero, he is still alive and active. His self-restoration power does not let him die under normal circumstances, constantly repairing and growing the injured or dead cells.
III. Because of that, he cannot heal from a form of cancer he is having — his both cancerous and normal cells are being restored by his body all the time and that’s why he is forced to wear an all-body costume and a mask to cover his gruesome appearance, which he cannot change even though he tried. This circumstance is, probably, one of the most powerful reasons why he is a brat and does bad actions without mental involvement in their tragic nature.
IV. Also because of this healing, his mental state is eroded and altered (because his neuron connections in the brain also grow and change at a large speed). This makes him a personality with highly unpredictable behavior but also an unparalleled fighter because his movements and tactics cannot be patterned and copied.
V. He speaks several languages and operates extremely well with several types of weapons. He is also a specialist in martial arts and hand-to-hand combat.
VI. Although the earlier versions of comic books depicted him with very strong physical powers, later on, he did not have them anymore, being as physically strong as a pretty much regular person. The same, in the early film installments, this character had the ability to teleport himself on a whim (in the X-Men film), but in his own franchise films, he does not have this ability.
VII. Unlike many other superheroes that have a healing ability, he does not feel as much pain when he is injured — this makes him very different from the already mentioned Wolverine, for instance. Although his mental anguish about his life in general and his scary appearance, in particular, is always high.
VIII. His supporting abilities are high agility, stamina & durability; basically, he is not tired, sleepy, or intoxicated. It also makes food for his body not as much needed as for real people.
The ability of bodily self-restoration may seem to some of our readers similar to the one that Venom has (also from Marvel comics). This character has its own movies, too, starring Tom Hardy as a guy who turned into Venom due to the penetration of some alien species into his body and merging on the DNA level. But the nature of the bodily restoration of Venom is way different from Deadpool: Venom is restored because of a multitude of small particles that may act as a whole but also as separate instances & which were mixed with the human body, making it impossible to damage. While Deadpool is restored because of the abilities of his own body, which were significantly boosted during a genetic experiment, involving the genetic material of other supernatural creatures and based on accumulated experience in such experiments. Also, his power will not fade away with time, as is the case with Wolverine, who grew old and died eventually.

Games with this character

We have free to play online games featuring Deadpool on our website (and their number will only grow with time). In addition to that, there are other numerous games featuring this character, which were designed for various gaming platforms, online and offline. Their biggest flourish was in the 2000s and 2010s, with more new games continuing to appear on the gaming firmament of the world even today. That also includes pinball — virtual and physical — featuring this character, made in 2014 and 2018.
This character is often seen with other heroes in comic books and pop culture. He is, probably, one of the most sociable characters in this issue. Thus, we counted over 20 cases of him cooperating with other protagonists, antagonists & their teams only in comic books.
Naturally to guesstimate that, in addition to action games with this character, there are also those, which are more inherent to our website, which are color-ups, puzzles, runners & decorative ones, where you have to come up with a dress for this character or use his help to make some house or room to a holiday or festive event. For the boys, who are more prone to action games, there will be street fighters, runners & shooters. For girls — those that we have just mentioned earlier, which are calmer and more creative, not destructive.

What he looks like

Two basic colors of the suit of this character are dark red and shiny black. The basis of the matter of the suit is dark red and it is interspersed with black leather inserts. That’s due to the leather his costume frequently makes funny noises like squeaks, which he jokes about at times.
Leather straps are holding his weapons behind his back, which are two swords (but he also well operates with pistols, grenades, Tommy gun & smaller devices, like teleport or fog maker, which hang on the belt on his waist).
Although you might have seen many renders of his excellent physique, which is even sometimes close to the physique of Batman, Deadpool is actually more like a mid-height human, who is skinny and often skips gym days (but not fat, oh no).
We never see the hero’s eyes, lips, or any other parts of his face or body — the costume actively hides 100% of the surface. Only when he takes it down. By the way, although his mask seems to form a single whole with the costume, it can be actually separated from the main costume — you can google for the pics of him without a mask but wearing a costume to make sure of it.
What is specifically loved by his admirers is the fun of his speech and actions, which include active articulation with hands and arms. These tiny features were specifically enhanced by Ryan Reynolds depicting him in films and various other media pieces.
We are deeply assured that playing games online on our web server with that character for free will deliver you a lot of happy moments. And that you will come back for more!
